BA Hons Year One Round Up
Researching for TelevisionResearch portfolios are produced by researchers and are basically production bibles.
The main assessment for this module instructed us to make our own research portfolio for a new one-off documentary. Below are the PDF's of my whole project for you to view and enjoy, alterntively click the links above or below to access parts of the portfolio on the website. Issues In TV The unit introduces students to the history of television from the birth of the medium in the 1930s to the impact of reality TV and new media, exploring key debates in television studies about why and how television changed over time. Combining a chronological approach with a thematic approach to television history, this unit focuses on both the television texts and historical contexts surrounding the television medium. In this way, this unit explores not only the history of television but also television as history, considering how television texts act as historical documents.

Studio Production - Cupid's ArrowHere is our studio production piece, produced as a Christmas Special in Decmember 2010.
The piece is designed to be a modernised version of Blind Date, playing on stereotypes, designed to be taken with a pinch of salt. We researched, planned and developed the whole show. The twelve-minute show incorporates all modern studio production techniques such as multi-camera, green-screen, autocue and vision mixer. As a group we recieved the highest mark ever awarded on our module, 74. Here I worked behind the scenes as Graphic Operator, where I controlled and made everything that appeared on our screen except the opening titles. Writing for TVA module that aims to teach us how to write screenplays and analyse scripts.

Technologies of Broadcasting
The assessment brief for this project has now been set and we're beginning work on our group project. We have decided to take our studio production piece Cupid's Arrow and use it to produce multi-platform elements. We had to build a functional and branded HBB TV (Hybrid Broadcast Broadband) type interface.
