Research Portfolio - Multi-platform elements
The proposed multi-platform elements of our programme
Like many other programmes, ours will follow a 360 degree spectrum with a variety of multi-platform opportunities.
Website; Here I start with the very basic of platforms. As with all programmes ‘The Shocking Truth of Status Updates’ would have its own website. The website would provide links to all of the other multi-platforms made for the programme. Furthermore it would have added extras that do not host as their own platform. For example we could have news updates on the filming of programmes in the season, as well as an outline of what the programme aims to do.
Twitter feed; the social networking site Twitter is one of the most popular to hit by Web 2.0. We want to use a Twitter service where the public can contact the ‘victims’ in each episode. The ‘victim’ could also then feed back with messages of hope and support to those still suffering.
Game; we’d like to also have a more light-hearted way of informing children and teenagers of the threat when you lack internet security. For example a game following a typical teenager in the modern world; the character in the game would have to perform certain tasks to increase their security and would gain points and information when they do the right thing. For example, the teenager could have the choice to have their Facebook account as private or open, and when the user selects to have a private account, they would gain points and a snippet of information.
Mobile Application; we would hope to have a mobile application for Smartphone’s, where they could play a mobile version of the game listed on the website. But also documents providing more help and support that can be read on the phone (this may be helpful for those people who want privacy of their problems from their parents).
Support Service; as with all hard-hitting programmes, there will be members of the audience that feel that they need someone to talk to, or discuss items with. This we hope could be a telephone service linked to the programme, where people could speak to the Childline charity.
Iplayer/4OD; more recently the idea of ‘watching what you want, when you want, how you want’ has taken the television industry by storm. Our programme will also be able to be steamed on your laptop/computer as well as on your television through games consoles such as the Nintendo Wii.
